To be honest, I think if I was developing an application which needed to check this, I’d probably heavily consider just downloading the pwned list, even though it is huge! Follow her on Twitter at MissAllieCarter. There is a long overdue need for research and support dedicated to the positive aspects of sexuality for women living with HIV. After many years of casual conversations with women living with HIV about sex and relationships and recent research documenting their reduced sexual activity and sexual satisfaction in Canada, HIV activists and community-based researchers from Simon Fraser University have teamed up to create an online resource, Life and Love With HIV.
The site will be dedicated to sharing positive and respectful research, support, education, and advocacy that moves beyond an emphasis on safe sex and embraces the possibility of pleasurable, satisfying, and fulfilling sexual experiences and relationships after HIV. More information about how this project came to be, including our commitment to working with rather than on communities to create social change, can be found in our April blog post.
You may wonder why we made this change and its significance to our work. We also felt this name was more inclusive to not only positive women regardless of time living with HIV but also their partners, negative women who may have a positive partner, providers, and even the general public. What else has been happening with our project to date? Well, besides our stellar website consultant, Fernando Prado , who is not only a creative genius but equally passionate about social change, none of us have ever built a website!
Not just a site, though. A community. About a dozen women joined us that day and shared many personal stories about their feelings and experiences around living and healing with HIV as well as their challenges and triumphs of dating, relationships, disclosure, love, and sex while living with HIV. As an HIV-negative women and a researcher at an academic institution, I was and am acutely aware of my status and position.

This dating technique is not new, having been used previously to date coral reefs and stalagmites in caves and other materials. But this study’s authors had to develop new processes and verification protocols to achieve their more precise dating of the Tongan artifacts. When the results came back from a Queensland University lab, Burley says his only comment was: “Wow! It is spooky that we can track an event that happened so long ago to such an exact period of time. The researchers dated coral files, common day artifacts used to file-down wood or shell materials for manufacturing other artifacts.
Thirteen of these were successfully dated, all nicely falling into a temporal sequence from top to bottom of their archaeological siting. Burley is most excited about a coral file found in the very bottom of the site. Not only does it have the oldest date, but also it was found in beach sand, over which the archaeological site formed.

The Canadian Press Staff. Researchers from the university and Royal BC Museum examined nine rare dragonfly fossils from the McAbee fossil site west of Kamloops and the town of Republic in northern Washington. The university says the fossils represent eight previously unknown species, six of which were preserved well enough to be given scientific names, and the findings were recently published in an academic journal.
Scientists say these dragonflies didn’t co-exist with dinosaurs and belong to more modern families, adding they would not look out of place today flying beside a modern pond.
